After a period of a few months during which I have been following tests, reviews of this PHOTO-VIDEO CAMERA, I’ve reached the conclusion that this is a critical tool that I really need!  The new CANON 7D was expected to enter the market beginning with June 2009, but the official release date was pushed to October! It is a tool that revolutionized HD-DSRL digital cinematography, that also captures FULL HD video – 1920p and SLOW MOTION 720p at 60fps. It is the ideal camera destined for pros, because all its setting are manual ( iris, iso, shutter speed etc…)

The shooting process is a cinematic style, highly different and harder than the traditional camera video HD where you insert a battery and press REC, but the results are beyond comparison.  It is a digital camera destined for exigent, directed projects, but it needs time for configuration setting varying the frames.

The key element of this investment are the interchangeable lenses, thus allowing for highly quality shooting even in low light situations. But most of the time …
lenses overrun the exchange value of the camera.

We would like to kindly thank our good friend Manu Ban. He is the one that brought the toy to me from the USA, and brought it in order (happily) :P .. We would also like to thank our friends Ervin and Lorand Szasz (RO), Rozalia and Ady Amarandei (USA) and  Ady Neachsu (USA)! Thank you all very much!

Ok! Let’s get down to business. Along with Cristy we decided to make this a memorable occasion, and very next minutes after I received the package I started shooting (March 5th) a video unboxing! Enjoy!

The following days (6th , 7th March) of course, we went out for the first tests…meaning, to see for ourselves what this camera can do.

So, we went to Central Park from Cluj Napoca city, and the last frames were taken at  the dam of  Lake Tarnita (it’s about 25 km away from Cluj)

As you can see from the images, I installed on our new Canon 7D a new Cavision cinema kit and an XLR audio adaptor
with 2 pro inputs.

The lenses I used are: Sigma 10-20 mm f4-5.6 (thanks to Razvan Donca) Canon 50 mm 1.8 II, Canon 28-135 f3.5-5.6 IS and  Sigma 70-300 f4-5.6

The  microphone is a Sennheiser ME66/K6.

Thanks to our friend Jennifer from Austria for accepting to play as the actress.

We actually met Jennifer during our March shootings!

Here is the outcome of the first Canon 7D tests! The shooting was HD full and 720p ( the slow motion frames) Postproduction was done in Final cut studio

We hope you will be as delighted as we are!

Enjoy! :)
